Established in 1997, the Latin Academy of Recording Arts
& Sciences (the Latin Recording Academy) is the first
international corporation formed by the National Academy of
Recording Arts & Sciences. The Latin Recording Academy
is a membership-based association composed of musicians, producers,
engineers and other creative and technical recording professionals
who are dedicated to improving the quality of life and the
cultural condition for Latin music and its makers.
In cooperation with with The Latin GRAMMYS and MENC, AMC
created a special series of broadcast spots in support of
music education that have brought the message of music to
a nationwide audience, with a focus on the Latin America community.
The announcements feature artists like Carlos Santana, Jon
Secada, Tito Puente Jr., David Sanchez, Jaci Velasquez, La
Ley, Chico OFarrell, Fernando Osorio, K.C. Porter, Alejandro
Fernandez, Romero Britto and actor/producer Andy Garcia, all
of whom lent their time to a special series of Spanish language
spots that aired on more than 200 radio stations and 60 television
stations around the country.
AMCs ongoing partnership with the Latin GRAMMYs provides
us with a powerful opportunity to reach a new audience with
the importance of music making and music education. For more
information on this series, please contact Sharonm@amc-music.org.
