Ten Tips for Making the Most of Your 'Best 100' Status
Congratulations. Your music education department is one of the top in the country. Now, it's time to shout it from the rooftops! So that you can promote your accomplishment with ease, AMC offers these tips:
- Download the 'Best 100' Web banner and post it on your school district's site.
- Use the 'Best 100' logo in your school newsletters and other district materials.
- Send a local press release to your community's Chamber of Commerce and local residential realtors. (*please note that AMC is actively reaching out to your local media about your accomplishment.)
- Make sure the local PTA/PTO is aware of the achievement so they can promote it in their correspondence with parents.
- Post the press release to your school district's Web site.
- Create a banner and hang it in your chorus, band or orchestra room. Ask the school principal if you can hang it in the main hallway of your school or other well-trafficked area so other students and staff can celebrate your achievement.
- When the marching band plays at football and basketball games, hang the banner on the bleachers or stadium fencing.
- Ask your Board of Education if they can make an announcement about the survey results at the next public board meeting.
- Share your 'Best 100' status with incoming students/families.
- Students, parents, teachers and community members should write letters to the editors of local newspapers explaining the benefits of music education.
