AMC and Disney Records Reach Parents via Nationwide TV

In March, as many as 80 million television viewers in the nation's top ten markets got a chance to see a special AMC-Disney Records presentation on the importance of music in early childhood thanks to Parenting and Beyond, a syndicated show hosted by model and mom Kim Alexis. The show explores the care, nutrition and development of children from birth through their teen years.

The segment, titled "Music to Your Ears…and Brain," highlighted the ongoing research that shows participation in music helps young kids generate neural connections for better abstract reasoning and spatial intelligence. If you didn't catch it in New York, Chicago, Portland, Boston, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Miami, San Francisco, Cleveland, Phoenix or Atlanta, look for additional airings on the America One Television Network on May 5 and June 16.

The show can also be viewed via streaming video at www.parentingandbeyond.com. AMC and NAMM members can receive a free VHS copy by calling Laura Johnson at (760) 438-8001, ext. 111.

This is not the first joint effort by AMC and Disney; in 2000, they teamed up to distribute an album of lullabies with special information for new parents about the benefits of music.
